I’ve been pretty quiet this last week or so because my toddler is making some changes to her sleep routine, namely her nap time, which is my blogtime. After thinking things through and consulting friends and books, I have decided to follow her cue on these changes and go with the flow.
“The books” say that an 18 month old sleeps about 13 1/2 hours a day, 11 overnight plus a 2 1/2 hour nap. A 24 month old sleeps about 13, 11 overnight plus a 2 hour nap. My darling daughter has been sleeping 12-13 hours at night and only wanting a 1/2 hour to hour nap. She’s well-rested, getting her optimum amount of sleep, just not at the times suggested.
Mama loves naptime. That is her veg-out in front of the computer time (and eat junk food that she doesn’t want to
share with eat in front of her daughter.) But mama also loves adult time in the evenings with her hubby. And mama loves sleeping in.
So, after toying with the ideas of keeping her up later or waking her up earlier to preserve that long nap, I have decided to go with it. Caroline can sleep from 7:30 pm until 7:30 or 8 a.m. and take a short afternoon nap. Mama just has to eat her chocolate fast!
